Abstract
This bachelors essay deals with analysis of the selected flood events within the Opava catchment with the support of GIS. The first part deals with the particular geographical characteristics of the selected area. The next section describes channel and watershed management of river Opava and its tributaries and finally summary of floods from 19. to 20. century. The following described geographic information systems ESRI ArcMap, GIS, SAGA GIS and GRASS GIS used for the analysis and hydrologic models. The end deals with the final evaluation and assessment.
