Abstract
ČERVENÝ, Roman. Sports Hall of Křižná Elementary School. Kudlovice, 2025. Diploma
Thesis. VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Civil Engineering. Head
of diploma thesis Doc. Ing. Roman Fojtík, Ph.D.
This diploma thesis focuses on the design and comprehensive construction–technical
solution of the new sports hall extension at the Křižná Elementary School. The aim of
the work is to elaborate the architectural study by doc. Ing. arch. Zdeněk Trefil into the
level of detailed construction documentation for execution. The building is designed as a
two-storey sports hall with a main playing area and associated facilities, with the spatial
arrangement based on the detailed floor plans of the 1st and 2nd floors. From the structural
perspective, the hall consists of a combination of a reinforced-concrete frame structure and
timber CLT wall panels, complemented by prefabricated reinforced-concrete components,
timber–concrete composite floor slabs, and glued-laminated timber roof trusses with steel
bracing.
The roof structure is designed as a lightweight flat roof with PVC waterproofing and
high-performance PIR thermal insulation, partly supplemented with an extensive green
roof. The building envelope is formed by alternating façade sandwich panels and timber
CLT wall assemblies with a diffusion-open build-up, including detailed plinth and parapet
solutions. The thesis also includes the design of the building’s connection to utility
networks and the stormwater drainage system based on the coordination site plan at a
scale of 1:500.
The assessed components of the thesis include, in particular, the thermal-technical performance
of the external wall assemblies in accordance with ČSN 73 0540-2, the calculation
of the building envelope energy rating, and the structural analysis of a glued-laminated
timber truss in relation to the overall structural concept of the building. The outcome
of the thesis is a comprehensive construction documentation of the hall extension, fully
respecting the requirements for energy efficiency, architectural intent and the operational
needs typical of school sports facilities.
