Abstract
The goal of this Bachelor thesis is to design and implement a~database system for clinical study. This thesis is divided into four main parts. The first part introduces multiple sclerosis, the nature of this disease and theories about its causes. The second part is about database design issues and contains a~description of a~database management system. There is a~brief presentation of three major data models that have been taken into consideration when designing the database, a~brief discussion of their advantages and disadvantages is included. The third part is devoted to creation of the user interface for the database. Basic principles for creating user interfaces are presented. This section discusses design decisions made when creating user interface fot the patient database for clinical studies. The fourth part is devoted to outlining the problem of statistical evaluation of data that will be realised after completion of the clinical study. Bootstrap methods are presented for calculating the mean and variance of statistical variables. This section also contains examples of algorithms for calculating the mean value of random variable in Python.
