Abstract

In the 1960s Mallorca became dominated by a massive tourist trade. This small agricultural island turned into number one among touristic destinations of Europe. It passed all the potential of its coasts on to the new but progressively developing industry, tore its historical links to traditional economy and exploitation of natural resources. In my work I attempt to present to you the island of Mallorca in a way that differs from the traditional view of such destinations. The introductory part deals with geological and geomorphological features of Mallorca, whereas the second part describes interesting geological facts concerning this locality. The final part of the thesis examines the touristic possibilities of this island. In this part I focused on the island´s cultural riches and the beauties of nature.
