Abstract

Shadow economy is certainly a problem of all the economics. This term is defined in many various ways and it’s difficult to pick just one of them. This topic wasn’t given much attention in the past, but it’s role keeps rising. This bachelor thesis aids to describe and evaluate the situation of shadow economy in the Czech Republic. First chapter concerns the theoretical base of the shadow economy, description of terms related to the topic, its causes, reasons for its development, its impact and also its ways of measurement. Second chapter describes shadow economy in the Czech Republic, it’s development since the times of Czechoslovakian Republic until these days. Collected information is compared with other economics, not only in Europe, but all over the world. Third chapter applies the gained knowledge into a practice of journalism, it includes several journalistic genres concerning the topic of shadow economy.
