Abstract
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to evaluate the financial health of a selected company using methods of financial analysis and to propose recommendations for improving its financial performance. The analysis covered the period from 2019 to 2023, with financial statements serving as the primary source of data.
The theoretical part introduced the fundamental concepts and methods of financial analysis, including horizontal and vertical analysis, ratio indicators of liquidity, profitability, indebtedness, and activity. Furthermore, the thesis focused on the DuPont analysis of equity, predictive models, specifically Altman’s model and Kralick’s Quicktest, and finally, the Spider analysis. The practical part applied these methods to the selected company and interpreted the resulting findings.
The analysis showed that the company performed relatively well throughout the monitored period. However, in the last two years, weaker results were observed, particularly in profitability and rate of return, which declined more significantly. Compared to its competitors, the company also lagged behind in activity indicators. The results further revealed that the company is only minimally indebted and finances approximately 80% of its operations with equity. Additionally, it was found that the company has no obligations to credit institutions.
Based on the results, specific steps were proposed to improve the company's financial condition. The recommendations focused primarily on improving the management of inventory, receivables, and liabilities, aiming to optimize their turnover periods. In terms of profitability, two key areas were identified. The first includes cost optimization and potential savings, especially through a detailed analysis of the logistics chain. The second involved suggestions for enhancing marketing communication to support revenue growth.
This thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the financial condition of the analysed company, identifies key problem areas, and presents specific recommendations to strengthen its financial health.
