Abstract

SUCHANKOVÁ, Dominika. Experimental Verification of the Manufacture of a Sound Suppressor for a Short Firearm Using 3D Printing. Ostrava, 2026, p. 91. Diploma Thesis. Faculty of Safety Engineering, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava. Thesis Supervisor: Ing. Stanislav Lichorobiec, Ph.D. The presented diploma thesis deals with the issue of manufacturing a sound suppressor for a short firearm using 3D printing technology. The theoretical part provides an overview of ballistics, with a particular focus on the physical phenomena occurring during a gunshot. It further describes sound suppressors and introduces the field of 3D printing regarding printing technologies and their availability. In addition, the materials used for the manufacturing process are analysed. The practical part of the thesis describes the design and production process of the suppressor prototypes. Subsequently, an experiment is conducted to verify their practical applicability during shooting with a short firearm.
