Královské horní město Hrob

Abstract

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the royal mining town of Hrob, Czech Republic. The first part of my thesis describes the characteristics of the town from a variety of perspectives, such as the physical geography, the geological context of earlier mining and its impact on the surrounding landscape, and the town’s connection with environmental protection. Furthermore, the cultural and demographic circumstances associated with some significant historical monuments are discussed. These factors have a huge effect on the potential for tourism in this town and its surrounding areas. The second part of my thesis focuses on the town´s history, divided into centuries, including its connection with the mining of ore, the town´s underground and some of the most major historical events in the town Hrob. In the last section of my work, I describe the most significant monuments, such as the Moldovan roller-coaster, and I present suggestions for how to maintain them in a good condition.
