Abstract
The bachelor thesis focuses on the removal of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) from aqueous solutions using biochar prepared from almond shells by conventional pyrolysis. The theoretical part summarizes the fundamentals of adsorption, the properties of biochar, and the behavior of Cr(VI) in aqueous environments. The experimental part deals with the preparation of the adsorbent and the investigation of the effects of pH, adsorbent dosage, and contact time on the adsorption process. The obtained data were evaluated using kinetic models and adsorption isotherms. The results indicate that biochar derived from almond shells is a suitable material for the removal of Cr(VI), while the adsorption efficiency is significantly influenced, particularly by the pH of the solution.
