Abstract

A spontaneous ignition of coal is still a current problem of mining industry, especially in deep mines. Specialists and technicians deal with this problem for more than 100 years. The spontaneous ignition in the form of endogenous fire causes extraordinary events whose effects are serious both in the economic sector and in the safety sector because they are sometimes accompanied with casualties. The submitted dissertation thesis deals with the spontaneous ignition and possibilities for utilization of indicative gases to determine the degree of focal point of endogenous fire. The indicative gases accompany every process of spontaneous ignition and their utilization is aggravated by frequent factors. In particular units of this thesis, there is described the historical development of spontaneous ignition both at an international level and at a national level, valid legislation, factors influencing the utilization of indicative gases, statistical analysis of error following from wide desorption charakter of coal and the calculation of quantitative degree itself supplied with comparing gas etalons.
