Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of resistance of selected eye protection elements against gunshot. A literature search was carried out focusing on the issue of weapons, ammunition and vision as an important sensory organ, taking into account possible eye injuries due to handling of airsoft guns. Within the framework of the conducted research the possibilities of eye protection were outlined. Based on the literature search and market opportunities, suitable eye protection items were selected for testing, for which a method of bullet resistance testing and a simple evaluation method was proposed. Over-the-counter firearms available from 18 years of age with different types of ammunition were selected for testing. The kinetic energies of the shots were calculated for the combinations of weapons and ammunition selected. Bullet resistance tests were performed on the selected glasses. The course of the bullet impact on the goggle visor was captured by a high-speed camera. The results of the tests of each goggle were described and compared with each other.
