Abstract

This thesis is solving the melt shifter new drive design for plasma furnace placed in the laboratory J129 on the ground of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava. The furnace is equipped with DC drive, which consists of an old design electronical voltage changer and DC engine. The first part of this thesis contains plasma theory, general plasma furnace and DC engines description. Description of given furnace, including performed measurements, is placed in the second part. As a new way to control the metl shifter was designed an AC drive consists of a frequency changer and asynchronous engine. That is why an AC engines theory is also mentioned. The new drive design itself is placed at the end of the thesis.
