Abstract

This thesis deals with stability problems of elements in the roof plane. The research focuses especially on the area of interaction of roof trusses and elements stabilizing their position against bending (or reinforcements in the roof plane). Using Ansys software, models were generated considering nonlinearities of material and form. The thesis is divided into several parts. Initial models are used for verifying assumptions, boundary conditions, and forms of imperfections. Extended models work with various height positions of the stabilizing elements. Not only positions of the stabilizing elements but also effect of stiffness of roof panels connected to the upper truss chord vary in two versions of the final model. Final assessments provide complex view on magnitudes of forces in the individual positions as well as effect of stiffness of the roof panel combined with stabilizing elements. The conslusion suggests an approach for utilizing the engineering designs of stabilizing elements. In common practice, it would streamline structural analysis and also reflect in material, time and cost savings.
