Abstract

The aim of this work was to assess both the influence of a drawing die geometry and the use of wire dressing after drawing on final mechanical properties of drawn wire used for the production of steel wire ropes. In the theoretical part which comprises chapters 2 and 3 the theoretical background and the drawing technology fundamentals are discussed. The next chapters deal with the practical experiment and evaluation of its results. The experimental samples were analysed in the mechanical testing rooms of the production facility as well as in the metallographic laboratory at VŠB-TU Ostrava. The experimental data were processed by means of the statistical analysis with the use of selected methods (i. e. hypothesis testing for μ and σ, correlation analysis). The final part summarizes the outcomes of statistical analysis and recommendations for further experiments under real conditions of the production facility.
