Abstract

The subject of this thesis is an impact of institutional factors on economic growth and development of the countries. I deal closer with the influence of religion and political regime on economic growth and development of the countries because of their relevance and ability to determine the economic performance of countries. In the first chapter I describe the theory of economic growth and development, institutional factors and the economic approaches that examine them. Further, I describe the most frequent religions of the world and forms of political regimes, including their ideological contents. In the second chapter I examine the influence of religion and political regimes on economic growth and development of the countries by means of theoretical and empirical considerations and studies of authors. In the third chapter I describe the impact of selected institutional factors on economic growth and development of Japan. I describe the influance of religious traditions and political regimes on the economy of Japan
