Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with nanomaterials, particularly with a fullerene and its derivatives. The theoretical part focuses on fullerene nanostructure, its occurrence in nature, production and processing. Moreover, description of its properties is included both in a Material Safety Data Sheet and other literature or electronic sources. Besides, I consider EU and US legislation regarding nanomaterials. The practical part focuses on the thermal analysis, phytotoxicity and both fullerene and its bromine derivatives UV stability, which is important to know while considering the safety and danger. Phytotoxicity was approached through two tests – semi-chronic toxicity test with Sinapis alba and the inhibition of root growth test.
