Abstract

The subject of this thesis is the possibility of using bamboo for building bridges in the Czech Republic. The aim of this thesis is to survey bamboo as material in civil engineering, to apply bamboo for FEM model of footbridge and than laboratory proof of its mechanical properties. For theoretical model of footbridge will be elected truss static scheme. According to contemporary Czech state norms the effect of loads are determined and than on basis of calculed inner forces representative bearing elements and joints are proposed and evaulated. A dynamic analysis are also included which resolved characteristic dynamic shape and frequency of construction. The proposed construction comply with ultimate limit state and serviceability limit state. According to dynamic analysis the characteristic frequency comply with norms. The value of laboratory testing and mechanic properties of bamboo are in compression in relativly accurate consensus, in bending the difference is a half. The ultimate work of this thesis is proposed bamboo footbridge with documentation included, which might be suitable for usage in Czech Republic.
