Abstract

Bachelor thesis covers the topic of steel used in hydrogen environment and the degradation of a material in such environment, known as hydrogen embrittlement. Description includes permeation of hydrogen into steel, its diffusion behaviour and mechanisms of the degradation. The production of these materials is also described, which includes primary metallurgy, examples of secondary metallurgy processes and casting of steel. In the last section the process of manufacturing steel into pipeline and pressure vessels is described, which are examples of components used in hydrogen environment, as well as the practical use of these components.
