Abstract

Wage differentiation is an important characteristic of the labour market. It reflects the position of workers both on the labour market and in society. Therefore, the aim of the doctoral thesis is to evaluate the situation of low-wage workers in terms of their level of wages and wage inequalities by selected personal and firm characteristics and to find out their impact on wage differentiation. The analysis was carried out on wages of ten occupations which were most represented in the dataset of wages below two thirds of the median for the CR in 2012. Data was provided by Trexima, spol. s r.o. By using several methods for measuring occupational wage differentiation, it is possible to evaluate wage inequalities in more complex way. The occupation is the most important wage determinant. The greater the expertise, severity and responsibility, the higher the wages and wage inequality. This is not valid for low-income workers whose earnings are minimally differentiated according the variables. It depends on the occupations.
