Abstract

This paper focuses on the use of blockchain networks as a data repository and compares it with a cloud database. The thesis first describes the blockchain itself, explaining transactions and the most commonly used consensus. Then, a specific blockchain network is selected based on several criteria. A load test implementation and actual testing is then performed over this network. Testing is also performed over the cloud database and these results are compared in terms of efficiency, cost and complexity of deployment. Finally, based on the results, I will evaluate if it is appropriate to use blockchain in this way.
