Abstract
This bachelor thesis deals with the characterization of the drilling spindle of horizontal boring machines as their basic structural element, which has an extraordinary influence on the resulting qualitative characteristics of these devices. The aim of this work is to evaluate the material characteristics of steel ČSN 41 5340, the influence of heat treatment on the final quality of the drilling spindle and to determine the possibilities of improvement in relation to internal spindle frequencies.
To achieve these goals, the following experimental activities were carried out:
• Chemical analysis through the cross-section of the drill spindle
• Microstructure investigations through the cross-section of the drilling spindle, including the characterization of the nitrided layer
• Determination of hardness profiles through the cross-section of the drilling spindle, measurement of internal stresses
• Calculation of intrinsic frequencies that can create oscillations during rotation loading.
