Abstract

Till 1989, any general standard regulating the problem of environment protection did not exist on the Czech Republic. A long-term absence of education in the field of environment caused a very low legal conscience of the society towards environment protection. The diploma work deals with the system of environment protection in the Czech Republic and with the overview of prevalent criminal activities committed in the field of environment. The goal of the work was to elaborate the analysis of opportunities and conditions for sanctioning of environmental crime by the Czech Republic Police. In the framework of investigations of criminal offences committed against environment, we can find that the Czech Republic Police has to proceed within the bounds of possibility given by Czech legislation, namely by the Police Act, the Criminal Procedure Code and the Penal Code, or eventually the Misdemeanours Act.
