Abstract

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to do a research on the issue of the partial discharges in electrical systems. Partial discharges are an undesirable phenomenom that can lead to insulation damage and shorten the lifetime of the electrical equipment. The aim of the research is to provide an overview of the current knowledge in the field of partial dischargedetection and analysis. The first part explains the basic concepts related to the partial discharges and describes the mechanism that can lead to their occurence. Furthermore, different methods for the detection of partial discharges are presented. The second and third parts of the research are devoted to partial discharges in DC voltage, their specifications, methods for measurement and evaluation.
