Urbanisticko-ekonomický potenciál transformace Severo-jižní magistrály v Praze

Abstract

The North-South Trunk Road is a route of a citywide importance. It deteriorates its suroundings by very intense traffic and creates a significant barrier in the city. This thesis confirms assumption that NSTR has a direct negative impact on the price of existing structures and degree of their utilisation. Proposal of its transformation completes existing urban structure, (re)defines public spaces and rehabilitates permeability of the area. The character of the route is changed to a city boulevard. The NSTR returns to the ground level from an estacade to support sustainability and adaptability of the urban structure. Humanization of the NSTR creates better conditions for building and is a key for higher rentability of development in the inner periphery, which is worth tens of billions CZK. Crucial potential of the transformation nevertheless lies in an active, complex and conceptual attitude of the city towards its own long-term development.
