Abstract

The bachelor thesis focuses on rock breaking and destruction by the help of explosives. The main aim is to compare the differences between conventional methods of rock breaking by explosives with a new non-detonating rock breaking technology of Green Break Technology Company. The first part of the thesis is focused on breaking by the help of blasting operations, where rock breaking is done as a consequence of explosive load blasting. I deal with factors influencing rock breaking and with methods using blast energy. The second part is devoted to the new method of rock breaking; particularly it is non-detonating Green Break Technology. It is based on compression action of gases on drill hole sides, where the pressure developed by the gases is ten thousand times smaller than by conventional explosives. So small pressures are sufficient at specific cases to break rockor concrete and are more suitable in terms of security and effect on the surrounding.
