Abstract
This thesis explores the potential of using the unlicensed 433 MHz band for LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) technology applications and conducts a comparison with the characteristics of the dominantly used 868 MHz band. The main goal is thus to verify the communication capabilities of the access point and to perform comparative measurements.
In the theoretical part, LoRaWAN technology is introduced to the reader in the context of the Internet of Things and its current alternatives are also discussed. Furthermore, available communication modules operating in the 433 MHz band are presented. In the practical part, the structure of the transmission chain is discussed in detail, including an analysis of the gains and losses of individual elements. It also describes the construction and activation of an end-point for the EU433 regional band, the simulation of access point range, and the selection of measurement scenarios. The conducted measurements focused on analyzing the range and reliability of communication in various environments. These results are subsequently compared with the simulations. The implementation of the end-point and the obtained results are published on the university LoRaWAN network's website.
