Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with hazards of combustion products and measuring smoke production. The introductory part presents conditions of thermal degradation and combustion. Smoke aerosols generated by pyrolysis and flaming fires are two classes of smoke aerosols of interest to this part of the thesis. Influence of condition, whether the decomposition is non-flaming or flaming, is assessed in relation to smoke generation. Next chapter gives an overview about hazards of combustion products. Last chapter describes determination of optical density by a single-chamber test. The methods and results of measurements made during making this thesis are presented in last chapter.
