Abstract

The aim of this bachelor thesis entitled Economic Development cohesion regions of Portugal , is to characterize and compare this very interesting country not only in terms of historical context , but also to map out the general geographic characteristics of the territory , economic disparities at NUTS 2 level and the external economic environment . Disparities are frequent term and global phenomenon of the last decade. The issue of regional disparities is also part of the regional policy of the European Union. Regional disparity indicates the unbalanced situation and can relate to many areas. This work is focused on regional disparity of economic cohesion. Characterization and monitoring of development disparities has better explicitness especially at smaller territorial units of each country. For unified monitoring , statistical monitoring and implementation of regional policies of EU member states are created territorial units NUTS . NUTS is divided into NUTS I, NUTS II and NUTS III.
