Abstract

The diploma thesis with the application of CorporateMetrics methodology in market risk quantification of company operating in the industry sector by Earnings at Risk measure at the level of operating income. The need of company to quantify the influence of market risk at the level of chosen financial result is given by its export-oriented trade policy. It puts company at currency risk and then to the possible loss for change of exchange rate. The CorporateMetrics methodology presents a complete system of definitions, methods and tools focused on market risk quantification in corporate environment and main attention is paid to key company financial results. The whole diploma thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part contains description of the CorporateMetrics methodology, its basic characteristics and comparison with other methods of market risk measuring. Then a market risk is characterized, is described fundamentals and description of financial modelling and a great attention is focused on the description of Value at Risk method and its application. In the practical part, a manufacturing company is described on whose financial results the CorporateMetrics methodology was applied. Company´s financial flous are influenced by currency risk (they have impact on company´s revenues and operating income). Market risk quantification is expressed through Earnings at Risk measure.
