Abstract
Goal of this thesis is investigation of bulk magnetic properties of austenitic stainless steels after cold forming. Some types of austenitic stainless steels exhibit change of internal structure after cold forming. This leads to origin of martensite structure having markedly different magnetic properties, typically higher remanent and saturation magnetization. Steel exhibits increased remanent magnetization and magnetization in magnetic field 20 kOe. Austenite stainless steel after cold forming is therefore unsuitable for some applications, where it is necessary to work with paramagnetic materials.
Bulk magnetic properties of steels before and after cold forming were studied using the vibrating sample magnetometer VSM EV9 of Microsense company. Structure of austenitic steels was determined by Mössbauer spectroscopy, metallography, chemical analysis performed by scanning electron microscopy, and microhardness Vickers test.
