Abstract
This master's thesis deals with the evaluation of performance of five selected insurance markets over the period 2012-2021 using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) including comparison and evaluation of the results of the three-level and four-level decision-making hierarchy.
The theoretical part focuses both on the description of multi-criteria decision making and the characteristics of insurance markets. In the first part, concepts such as criteria, alternatives and criteria weights are defined. Decision-making methods for selecting the optimal alternative are outlined, including a detailed description of the AHP algorithm. The second part is dedicated to the characteristics of insurance market. Its functioning, segmentation, regulation, legislation and development trends are described. Particular attention is dedicated to insurance market evaluation indicators. At the end of the theoretical part of this thesis, 5 selected countries are presented in terms of geographical, economic and insurance characteristics.
The practical part deals with the determination of criteria weights and evaluation of the performance of insurance markets using the AHP method. The weights are determined using Saaty's pairwise comparison method for both individual indicators and individual years. In terms of performance assessment, the development trend and the performance of the markets over the whole period 2012-2021 are analysed. It is done for 2 solutions, including and not including the influence of time, inclusive their mutual comparison.
The summary of results is made at the end of this master's thesis.
