Abstract
This bachelor thesis deals with photocatalytic generation of hydrogen from water-methanol mixture in presence of graphene modified g-C3N4 photocatalysts. g-C3N4 based photocatalysts were prepared by heating melamine, modified with graphene and characterized by X-ray diffraction, UV-Vis spectrometry and scanning electron microscopy. Photocatalytic reaction was performed in a stainless batch reactor irradiated with a 254 nm wavelength UV lamp. Gaseous samples were taken at given times and were immediately analyzed by gas chromatography with barrier discharge ionization detector (BID). Photocatalytic hydrogen generation was higher in the presence of the prepared photocatalysts than in the presence of the commercial TiO2 photocatalyst (Evonik P25). Based on the experimental results it was found, that the photocatalysts activity was increasing in order: Evonik P25 < g-C3N4/1 wt.% gr < g-C3N4/0,5 wt.% gr < g-C3N4.
