Abstract
The theme of the thesis is unemployment in the Moravian-Silesian Region. More specifically, the thesis deals with the solution of unemployment due to layoffs in the company OKD, Inc. The theoretical part defines the concept of unemployment and measures of the active employment policy in the Czech Republic. The practical section analyzes the unemployment and the active employment policy measures in the Moravian-Silesian Region. In detail it focuses on the situation in the mining company Paskov and represents state measures, the company OKD ones as well as the author's own proposals to mitigate the social consequences of the mass redundancies in Paskov.
