REGIONAL DISPARITIES ANALYSIS OF BULGARIA AND ROMANIA

The aim of the bachelor thesis is, in theoretic level, the performance of EU Regional Policy, to introduce the basis of regional disparities and also it contains the description of the ways of measuring. In practical level, the bachelor thesis focuses on the analysis of the youngest members of the European Union with special concentration on the territorial units
NUTS II.
The bachelor thesis is divided into three main chapters supplemented by the introduction and the conclusion. The second chapter deals with the Regional Policy, its evolution, the main financial instruments. There are also explanation of term of region, its main definitions and variations. It also includes definition of Nomenclature of Units for Territorial Statistics, explanations of terms regional disparity and the reason why this topic is so important. In the last subsection there are introduced indicators of the Lisbon strategy (structural indicators), and finally there are also the newly defined current indicators of Europe 2020. Since this bachelor thesis is aimed at the approach the situation in Bulgaria and Romania, the third chapter is devoted to general characteristics of these countries, it includes a description of their political system, economic structure and regional characteristics in terms of administrative structure at national level and it also contains the Nomenclature of territorial units at all levels. The last, practically oriented chapter concentrates on analysis of selected indicators of regional disparities NUTS II regions of Bulgaria and Romania, it is performed by using selected methods which are suitable for assessment of regional disparities (traffic light method and point method). Through a comparison maximum and minimum values will be the intensity of regional disparities subsequently determined. The final comparison will be made within countries and between themselves and also with Czech Republic.
