Abstract

This Thesis is focused by possibilties of production of metallic foam whit focusing on the possibilities of their manufacturing using conventional foundry production processes. Thanks to unique combination of properties (low weight, high rigidity, temperature conductivity, chemical resistance) find this material usage in many kinds of industry. The theoretical part of this work focuses on the description of the various casting methods of manufacturing of metal foams and their current use. In the practical part the castability as a limiting factor for the production of cast metal foams (sponges) - the two-stage investment casting process using a polyurethane (PUR) pattern is studied. Eventually the subsequent evaluation for the purpose of defining optimal conditions of the process.
