Abstract
The presented work deals with the past and present activities of mining rescue divers. The first part deals with a brief history of diving in the world and the Czech Republic in connection with the emergence of a diving group at the Mines Rescue Service. The second is an overview of the applicable legislation for training and rescue activities under water. The next section summarizes the risks of professional scuba diving with brief overview of physics, physiology, risks arising from diving in the mining environment and the risks due the technique used. Then there is an overview of contemporary diving equipment, which is divided into two parts - the equipment used when diving in general and the special equipment used for diving in enclosed or clinging areas. The following are the most significant emergency operations of mining rescue divers in the country. Finally, the work assesses the importance of mining rescue divers services.
