Abstract

The Bachelor’s thesis deals with the assessment of the suitability and use of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) for Czech Republic as a multidisciplinary process that assesses and collects information about the medical, economic, ethical and social implications of the use of medical technology. This paper describes health technology assessment, a comprehensive theoretical description of HTA processes, including their selection schemes, potential impacts and consequences of the current environment. The following is a brief overview of the major international and European HTA organizations, whose knowledge and experience could also benefit Czech Republic. The way this would be achieved, taking into account the current state of our health care system including how it is delivered and financed, is engaged in the second half of this work. In conclusion, it also specifies, evaluates and recommends implementation steps for the possible introduction of HTA in the conditions of the Czech health care environment. In the introduction hypothesis about the suitability of HTA implementation in the Czech Republic is expressed, which is at the end of the thesis subsequently confirmed.
