Abstract
The thesis is devoted to banking regulation and supervision in the Visegrad countries. The aim of this thesis is defined to the system of banking regulation and supervision, focuses on core activities of supervisory institutions in the Visegrad countries between 2007 to 2011 and compared selected indicators of banking sector in the region. In the first chapter, theoretical foundations of banking regulation and supervision are defined. Chapter defines the targets, components, methods of supervision of banks and the system of regulation and supervision. The second chapter is devoted to the development of the banking sector in the Visegrad countries between 2007 to 2011, individual supervisory institutions in the region and their activities. The third chapter focuses on a comparison of the capital adequacy, indicators of profitability and liquidity indicators. The final part of the chapter is devoted to trends and develompment of banking regulation and supervision in the European Union.
