Abstract
This thesis deals with influence of alloying elements on the eutectics, intermetallic phases and microstructure formation in Al-Si alloys which is closely related to their final mechanical properties. Study is focused mainly on the 3XX.X group of casting alloys, especially on the A356 alloy, which is widely used for casting aluminum alloy wheels and which microstructure is investigated in the experimental part of this thesis.
