Abstract
This bachelor thesis is focused on the design of an experiment for the training module of the company GUNT, which demonstrates the flotation process. The whole work is divided into two parts. The first part describes the water, its properties, and the processes used in its treatment and purification. It then focuses on the general principles of flotation, its history, and its use in water technology. The second part provides a detailed description of theindividual parts of the DAF module (Dissolved Air Flotation) and the procedure of the experiment. The experiment was then performed in the laboratory on a DAF training module with model water prepared by using powdered activated carbon. Purification of model water was performed by adding coagulant (ferric sulfate), flocculant (POLY SEPAR® PK 19 H), and sodium hydroxide. The efficiency of the DAF module was verified by turbidimetric determination of turbidity with a Hach Lange DR 3900 spectrophotometer. In the end the experimental procedure, which can be used to prepare a laboratory task on a training module for students, was proposed.
