Abstract
This thesis evaluates the reclamation efforts at the Pokrok VIII (Bílina Mines) and Březno XIX (Nástup Tušimice Mines) sites, which were created as a result of open-pit lignite mining. The aim of the thesis was to assess the progress of the restoration of spoil heaps in relation to the properties of the spoil substrates and to evaluate the extent to which reclamation objectives were met compared to the project proposals. The evaluation is based on an analysis of project documentation, pedological data, and field surveys, supplemented by an assessment of species composition using the Shannon diversity index. The results show differing vegetation development between sites depending on substrate properties and the method of reclamation. Differences were found in diversity, vegetation cover, and stability. The study confirms the importance of the soil environment for the success of reclamation and provides a basis for optimizing reclamation procedures in spoil heap areas.
