Abstract

This master thesis focuses on the problem of business process modeling. The aim is\linebreak to approach and clarify this broad domain. One of the main goals is a formal description and explanation of Petri nets theory and modeling methods based on this theory, which allow description of business processes with respect to their flawlessness. The main part is dedicated to the analysis of Workflow patterns, which represent a specialized form\linebreak of design patterns that are often present in practical modelling problems. These patterns are categorized by function, followed by their description and motivation for their use. This work also entails examples of possible application of these patterns and especially description of application with the chosen method, such as Workflow networks.
