Abstract
The topic of the bachelor thesis is the position of BRICS countries in the world economy. BRICS countries were identified as countries with high prospects for economic growth and development, which was supposed to strengthen their position in the world economy to such an extent that their economic weight would surpass the G7 group of countries. The aim of this work is to assess the position of the BRICS countries in the world economy over the period 2008-2022. The contribution of these countries to world GDP, their position in international trade and also their position in international FDI flows is assessed. The thesis is divided into five chapters, the first chapter is an introduction. The second chapter introduces the basic terms and concepts related to the structure of the world economy and the processes taking place in it. The so-called centres and potential centres of the world economy are introduced in more detail. The third chapter introduces the BRICS grouping, then briefly introduces the BRICS countries and their GDP, GDP per capita, exports and imports, FDI inflows and outflows, and finally assesses their current economic potential. The fourth chapter presents an assessment of the position of the BRICS countries in the world economy. Their mutual comparison and consequently their position in the world economy. It outlines further developments within the BRICS grouping and the countries that could join this group in the future. The theoretical part of the Bachelor thesis is based on Czech and foreign literature. In the practical part, statistical data describing the development of selected macroeconomic indicators are analysed, which were taken from the World Bank statistical database. The methods of comparison and analysis are used. The results are presented using tables, with the red colour indicating the lowest analytical values and a gradual transition of lighter colours to the green colour indicating the highest analytical values. The fifth chapter presents the conclusion.
