Abstract

This essay analyzes modern control methods of sensorless AC drives with induction motors from the point of view of rotor speed estimation methods based on state observers. As it results from the technical practice, it is in many ways convenient to acquire the information about speed in this indirect way, which is based on the knowledge of induction motor mathematical model. Special accent is on the Luenberger observer however a very similar one, the sliding mode observer, does not remain aside. The crucial moment of the observer design is to propose the suitable observer gain matrix. There exist in principle two possibilities. The first so-called standard design method contains estimated speed the second does not which is advantageous because of smaller computational demands. The aim of the practical part was to simulate the mentioned state observers in wide range of revolution and to compare them from the point of view of accuracy, dynamics and gain matrix choice.
