Abstract
Aim of this diploma thesis is to study the issues of proposed assanation and recultivation measures of sludge ponds belonging to the former Dukla Mine in Karvina Region in relation to reptiles. First part outlines the impacts of black coal underground mining in the area of Karvina Region and especially its impact on biota. Next part provides general explanation of terminology, such as assanation, recultivation and revitalization, looking back to the history, evaluating present time and nowadays trends in these measures in relation to biota. In the following part, the thesis continues to describe reptiles as a model group of change indicators within the landscape, as well as to report observations of reptiles throughout this model land in the period of 2009 - 2010. Last part suggests opportunities to increase diversity of reptile species in the context of above stated assanation and recultivation measures in the specified territory and its nearest surrounding.
