Abstract
The aim was to study abilities obtained and prepared zinc oxide nanostructured materials, to induce lipid peroxidation. This ability is one of the indicators of oxidative stress and thus material toxicity. The theoretical part summarizes information about zinc oxide nanoparticles, antibacterial and toxic properties of zinc oxide. Further are discussed issues of influence of zinc oxide nanoparticles on human body. In the experimental part were mechanochemically prepared samples and obtained commercial ZnO nanoparticles characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy with EDS analysis and particle-size distribution. Nanocomposites zinc oxide/vermiculite did not behave like toxic, while were proved toxicity mechanochemically prepared ZnO nanoparticles The highest toxicity was shown by the commercial ZnO.
