Abstract
The thesis is focused on the electrochemical features of magnesium-based alloys for biocompatible applications. The theoretical part is devoted to the analysis of materials used in today's traumatology, their special characteristics, or other applications in medicine. The search is focused on the metallic materials, their bio-activity and bio-dissolution.
The next part of thesis describes selected types of magnesium in general, with a focus on the characteristics of alloys within the applications in medicine. The problem of corrosion of magnesium alloys is disscused in terms of distribution by type of attack, mechanisms of action, influence of additives on corrosion resistance, environmental impact assessment or corrosion evaluation metodology.
The experimental part describes the materials used for the measurement, methods used in the experiment, process and results of the experimental observations and measurements. This part is mainly devoted to the analysis of corrosion rate versus time for the individual samples of magnesium alloys in a 0.9 % sodium hydroxide solution, also contains metallographic analyzes of the used samples of magnesium alloys at a baseline.
