Abstract
My bachelor’s thesis deals with the design and implementation of a pressure sensor with a frequency output at most. The main component is an uncompensated Honeywell NSC series pressure sensor, which converts the applied pressure into an electrical signal. This signal is then conditioned and processed by an electronic circuit so that the result is an output frequency corresponding to the measured pressure. The thesis explains the principle of pressure measurement and lists basic commonly used pressure units, such as psi and bar. The work also includes a description of the pressure sensor connection, its power supply, and the correct use of the pressure ports. An important part of the thesis is the design of a converter that converts a change in pressure into a change in frequency in the range from 4 kHz to 10 kHz. The output frequency can then be measured, for example, by using a microcontroller. The measured values can be displayed on an LCD display or being further evaluated. The thesis also includes practical verification of the device function and a comparison of the measured values with the expected results. The aim of the bachelor’s thesis is to design and implement two functional variants of a pressure gauge that enables simple and clear pressure measurement using the frequency output of the pressure sensor.
