Pracovní podmínky těhotných žen a matek

Abstract

This diploma thesis examines the employment circumstances of mothers and expectant women in the Czech Republic. The aim of this study is to appraise the efficacy and sufficiency of the current laws and policies for employed expectant mothers and women. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter, an examination of legal papers is conducted in conjunction with semi-structured interviews with employers and workers from different private sector industries. The results indicate that although legislation exists to protect expectant mothers, its actual application is not always guaranteed. A safe and encouraging work environment for a pregnant employee is contingent upon flexible work schedules and the support of superiors. It is therefore imperative that the parties take immediate action to address the major issues of employers' duties and the lack of knowledge regarding female employees. The conclusion of the report recommends the revision of legislative restrictions and the provision of education to employees about their rights and duties as a means of improving the working circumstances of mothers and pregnant women in the Czech Republic. These steps are required to safeguard the rights and health of expectant mothers as well as to establish a fair and encouraging employment environment for all jobless individuals.
