Abstract

The main reason of this thesis is to characterize and compare bulk and surface properties of magnetic nanostructures: Ni2MnGa Heusler alloys, amorphous and nanocrystalline FeSiNbCuB ribbons, magnetic nanopowders and liquids. Method for measuring bulk magnetic properties is based on the vibrating sample magnetometer VSM whose function and principle is going to be described in detail. Methods for determining the surface magneto-optical properties are the following: differential intensity method due to which the surface hysteresis loops are measured, and Kerr microscopy, which is used for the magnetic domains observation.
